I have six brothers and one sister. : ÀúÀÇ ºÎ¸ð´ÔÀº ¾Ó°ñ¶ó¿¡¼ Çdz ¿Â ³¹ÎÀ̾ú°í Á¦°¡ ž±â ¿À·¡ ÀüºÎÅÍ Äá°í¿¡¼ »ì¾Ò½À´Ï´Ù. : Àú´Â ¿©¼¸¸íÀÇ ³²ÀÚ ÇüÁ¦¿Í ÇÑ ¸íÀÇ ¿©ÀÚ ÀڸŰ¡ ÀÖ½À´Ï´Ù. : I¡¯m in the U.S. as an asylum seeker, after having fled from the DRC to Angola and then to : the U.S. in April 2011. : Àú´Â ¹Ì±¹¿¡ ³¹Î ½ÅûÀÚ ÀÚ°ÝÀ¸·Î ÀÖ½À´Ï´Ù. 2011³â¿¡ ¹Ì±¹¿¡ ¿Ô´Â µ¥ ±× Àü¿¡´Â ÄáÄÚ¿¡¼ ¾Ó°ñ¶ó·Î °Ç³Ê°¬¾ú½À´Ï´Ù. : When I arrived in the US, I did not speak English, but was fluent : in French, so I sought asylum in Canada. : Á¦°¡ ¹Ì±¹¿¡ µµÂøÇßÀ» ¶§ Àú´Â ¿µ¾î¸¦ ÇÒ ÁÙ ¸ô¶úÁö¸¸ ÇÁ¶û½º¾î¿¡ ´ÉÅëÇ߱⠶§¹®¿¡ ij³ª´Ù·Î °¡±â¸¦ ¿øÇß½À´Ï´Ù. : Instead, I was turned over to U.S. immigration agents and ended up in an immigration detention center in Batavia, NY. : ÇÏÁö¸¸ Àú´Â ¹Ì±¹ À̹α¹¿¡ ³Ñ°ÜÁ³°í ´º¿åÁÖÀÇ Batavia¿¡ ÀÖ´Â À̹ÎÀÚ ¼ö¿ë¼Ò¿¡ °¡°ÔµÇ¾ú½À´Ï´Ù. : I spent almost thirty months in the detention center, where I started learning English, as well as Spanish. : °Å±â¼ ¾à 30°³¿ù Á¤µµ ¸Ó¹«¸£´Â µ¿¾È¿¡ ¿µ¾î¿Í ½ºÆäÀξ ¹è¿ü½À´Ï´Ù. : During my detention, I kept contacting people outside by sending letters and telephoning : as well. : ÀÌ ¼ö¿ë¼Ò¿¡ ¸Ó¹«¸£´Â µ¿¾È Àú´Â ¼ö¿ë¼Ò ¹ÛÀÇ »ç¶÷µé°ú ÆíÁö, ÀüÈ·Î Á¢ÃËÇß½À´Ï´Ù. : As a result, I made connections in this wonderful Ithaca community. : ±× °á°ú Àú´Â ¸ÚÁø ÀÌŸī(¹Ì±¹ ´º¿åÁÖ¿¡ ÀÖ´Â Àα¸ 2¸¸ Á¤µµÀÇ ÀÛÀº ½Ã) °øµ¿Ã¼(ƯÁ¤ ´Üü¸¦ ÀǹÌÇÏ´Â °ÍÀÌ ¾Æ´Ï¶ó ÀÌ Áö¿ªÀÇ Àüü ÁÖ¹ÎÀ» ÀǹÌ)¿Í ¿¬¶ôÀÌ µÇ¾ú½À´Ï´Ù. : Especially grateful to the Ithaca Chapter Group 73 of Amnesty International and to the First Baptist : Church which assisted me before, during and after my release. : Á¦°¡ ¼ö¿ë¼Ò¿¡¼ °¡±â Àü, ¼ö¿ë¼Ò¿¡ ÀÖ´Â µ¿¾È ±×¸®°í ¼ö¿ë¼Ò¿¡¼ ³ª¿Â ÈıîÁö Àú¸¦ µµ¿Í ÁØ ±¹Á¦»ç¸éÀ§¿øȸÀÇ ÀÏ¿øÀÎ ÀÌŸī 73ÁöºÎ¿Í ÀÌŸī Á¦ÀÏħ·Ê±³È¸¿¡ Ưº°ÇÑ °¨»ç¸¦ µå¸³´Ï´Ù. : I feel lucky to be part of this great community.
